Episode 18- "Fireworks"

This episode picks up with Kelly's father still in town and Mills still trying to figure out how is father died. Kelly's father Benny doesn't really what to bring it up and Boden is on board for keeping it quiet but Mills keeps pressing for answers. Turns out that Benny didn't sign on for an award that would have been given to Mills' father after his death. Benny didn't sign it because it is an award for valor and when Mills' father took of his mask during the fire that was he decision but another firefighter died trying to save him. Benny didn't find that honorable so he didn't sign off on the award. Mills punches Benny after hearing Benny say that what his father did wasn't honorable but an act of cowardliness. Dawson never fills Mills in on the information she knows about Boden sleeping with his mother when his father was still alive.
Shay is still looking for a sperm donor so she can have a baby. She isn't finding anyone she likes and find out a little bit about the process from Mouch... a former sperm donor. Shay then decides to try a different way. She ask Kelly to be the father of her baby. Kelly doesn't answer this episode.

Casey has dinner with Heather and they decide not to take their relationship any farther than friends. They have dinner and watch a movie. Heather falls asleep on the couch and Casey puts a blanket on her and heads to bed. This comes into play the next episode when Kelly shows up at Casey house the next morning and assume Heather and Casey are together.

Benny decides to leave town after the fall out at the fire house. He apologizes to Kelly for what happened but he also questions Kelly's squad he has picked. Kelly then heads to Mills' house and offers him a spot on squad once he finishes his schooling.

Not much else really happens this episode. The fire that they work doesn't really affect what is happening in the show at a drama stand point for the characters.

Episode 19- "A Coffin That Small"

This episode starts off with Kelly finding out that Heather is at Casey house. Casey begs Kelly to understand that it's not what it looks like but Kelly isn't listening. While the team is flushing the hydrants a little boy comes running asking for help. His brother is stuck across the street in a laundry shoot. The team does everything they can to get him out but in the end he dies at the hospital from complication of his injuries. The little boy that dies wanted to grow up and be a firefighter after visiting the fire house on a field trip earlier that year. Herman comes up with the idea for his funeral when the cars pass to have the team dress up in their suits at attention with a flag hanging from the fire truck with all the lights going. Truly a tear jerking moment.
A local gang have been hiding their drugs in the hydrants and a shooting later happens after the guys return back to the fire house. Turns out the gang has been hiding their drugs there for awhile. Casey lets them know he isn't stupid enough to believe they will stop selling because he is talking to them but to know they have to flush the hydrants twice a year and they should find somewhere else to hide the drug or they could get flushed.

Shay and Kelly decide to go through with the insemination. Only problem is Shay realize she can't afford the procedure- $10,000. So she comes up with plan B where her and Kelly just sleep together. Later in the episode Shay informs Kelly that her father is going to pay for the procedure. So they are back to plan A.

Kelly and Casey doesn't resolve their feud but it doesn't get any worse either. Still waiting to see where this story is going. Mills is going to try to be fast tracked for squad with Kelly's help. Also a new candidate is placed at the fire house for a few days... a girl that will be riding with Dawson and Shay.

Episode 20- "Ambition"

Things with Kelly and Shay are moving forward with the insemination. She started her hormone shots. The majority of this episode surround Mills being fast tracked for squad and about the new candidate Tara (she doesn't make it at the house- doesn't have the stomach for city work according to Dawson) with EMS. Mills gets a pretty had time from the truck group about hanging out with the squad group. Tara starts to hit on Kelly pretty much at any given chance. She make a bet with him that if she loses she buys beer. She loses of course. Later that night she shows up at Kelly's and they drink and he doesn't pay attention to his phone when Shay is calling. Shay shows up mad as hell because she was waiting for him at the clinic and he didn't pick up. She releases him of his obligation to be the father of her baby.
The next day everyone is at Mollys getting ready for the bar opening. Casey helped Dawson find the door she was looking for and got it finished and assembled for them. Mostly everyone from the fire house shows up to the bar and they all have the "first beer" from Mollys. While there Shay and Kelly talk about the night before. Shay apologizes to Kelly and tells him she will find another way to make this happen. He tells her no and that they are going to do this together. As everyone is outside around the bar, Kelly gets a text that he needs to go to the fire house asap. Once he gets there he see Tara leaving and she won't speak to him. Inside Chief Boden informs him that she has said he lured her back to him apartment and then forced himself on her... Kelly is shocked and is informed by Boden that he needs to contact his union rep and get a lawyer.

Back at the bar, Casey and Dawson are talking when someone walks into the bar. Dawson informs them that they are closed and as they both turn they see Hallie (Casey ex-fiance). Everyone is surprised and Casey ask her to go for coffee and she say yes. Something seems very off about why she is there. The next episode should be interesting.

Episode 21-"Retaliation Hit"

This episode starts out with Kelly being interviewed about his night with Tara. Many lies on her part that he has to listen to and he gives his side of what happen. Mouch tells Kelly that he needs to leave Tara alone. Casey and Halle have coffee and catch up on life. Detective Voight gets out of jail and he tries to call in that favor from Dawson when he helped her brother.
Mills gets a lot of crap from the other squad members for seeming to suck up to Kelly; he gets many pranks put on him this episode. The fire house have to go through a class about sexual harassment in lieu of events with Kelly. Kelly meets up with Tara and she lets him know that they want her to file a police report. She wants him to admit what happened and make a public apology  He lets her know that she is crazy and he won't do it. Dawson lets her brother know that Voight called in that favor. Antonio lets her know he will take care of it.
At a call for an over turned tanker, Kelly ask Hadley to help set up a poly system, he doesn't know how so Kelly tells Mills to do it and he does it perfect; making Hadley a little upset. Hadley puts dog food in Mills food and it starts a fight. Hadley gets fired... kinda of. Chef puts in a transfer for him.
Antonio meets with Voight, Voight now wants a favor from him. With Kelly confronting Tara opened a can of worms, now the court is looking into his past-- of every girl he has slept with on the job... remember Nikki, her father shows up at the house to let the Chief know that he will be letting the court know that Kelly is a bad guy and what happened with Nikki. Chief lets him know that he valued their friendship but it was nice knowing him that he will have Kelly's back.
Casey meets up with Halle at her new place to give back each others stuff that they still had. They have a conversation about how it used to be. They end up sleeping together, while Voight gets reinstated. Mouch lets Kelly know that Tara won't be acting on the charges internally. She gets a promotion! And Kelly's case will be going to the states attorneys office. Kelly finally begins to break down because of the situation.
Opening night of the bar Molly's is happening. Most of the house comes out to celebrate but so does Voight. Voight seems to apologize to everyone at the bar and buys everyone a round. Voight was promoted to sergeant and is now running the intelligence unit-- who Antonio works for. He tries to make a personal apology to Casey and Halle but Casey isn't having it and walks away.

Episode 22- "Leaders Lead"

Just a forewarning the ending of this episode may possibly be the saddest episode yet.
This episode starts out with Kelly waiting for Tara in a grocery store parking lot. He causes quite a scene with many bystanders. Casey and Halle seem to have reconnected pretty hole heartily. Mills tells Dawson that he is in love with her and wants her to move in. Dawson doesn't say much at the time.
Chief finds out that Kelly went and saw Tara, he tells Kelly if he contacts her again he will force Chief to take away his squad. Kelly is extremely unhappy to say the least. Shay talks Kelly into starting to investigate Tara. Shay feels that Tara targeted Kelly. Kelly goes to Antonio for help. Antonio gives him information on someone who Tara may have done this to before at a previous job- he also finds out that the court will be going forward with criminal charges against Kelly. The mans name is Clay White that Tara also did this to. They had a fun time and went in different directions. When the company had to downsize Tara made the claim against him. Kelly ask him to come forward and help him.
Dawson tells Mills that she loves him and that she wants to know when to move her stuff in.  Casey goes to Halle's clinic and meets her for lunch. I can't quite figure it out but something just seems fishy there. They have lunch outside and talk about life some more. She basically tells Casey that she still wants to be with him.
Kelly and Clay go to Tara's work and Kelly threatens to take Tara to criminal court or she can take the charges back, quit her job and they never have to see each other again. Later that day Chief informs Kelly that Tara has recanted her testimony after him and quit her job. Dawson tells Mills the truth about his mother and Chief and Mill gets mad at Dawson for not telling him as soon as she found out. This leaves their relationship up in the air.
Also later that night the house get a call for a fire that happens to be Halle's clinic. When they get there the building is in flames and it looks bad. Casey finds out that Halle is inside. Casey and Kelly find her in the locked medicine cage unresponsive and badly burned. They fight to get to her and when they get to her they grab her and barely get out of the building. Dawson, Shay and Casey ride to the ambulance together, Halle is unresponsive the whole time. At the end of the episode the whole team is at the hospital waiting, we see Casey go and talk to the doctor after a moment he breaks down and starts crying- Halle didn't make it. Mills goes to him quickly.
All new episode next Wednesday. How will Casey deal with losing Halle after he just got her back? What will happen with Mills and Dawson? And will Shay and Kelly decide to go through with the baby thing now that the issues with Tara are over? The preview for the next episode show us that Casey goes to Voight to find out who is responsible for the fire and Antonio informs Casey that Halle was killed before the fire started. This was also the backdoor pilot for the Chicago PD spin-off  Tune in next Wednesday, only two episodes left this season.

Episode 23- "Let Her Go"
The previous episode is very sad after Halle's death. Casey must now find a way to come to terms with it and the way he does that is trying to find out what happened to cause the fire. Halle's death forces Casey to team up with the Intelligence Unit, now run by Voight, who doesn't appear to have changed his crooked ways which causes Casey not to trust in him to figure this out. After the autopsy is performed they inform Casey that Halle was killed before the fire got to her from a blow to the head. The Intelligence Unit works the case which includes Antonio and a new agent  Julie (lead in's to the spin-off I am guessing).  Some interesting things happen in this episode with Voight. At time you are not sure if he is actually a bad guy or just playing a bad guy to help with some undercover criminal investigation  It is very miss leading and it make you wonder. Then at the end of the episode when they check the guy he has Casey at gun point with Antonio trying to talk him down when Voight comes up. The man acts like seeing Voight is a good thing and asks him to tell Antonio something while Voight just comes up and shots him in the head, killing him instantly.... makes you wonder if Voight has something to do with Halle's death.
Meanwhile, Shay's excitement at the prospect of becoming a parent grows, her and Kelly have an appointment at the clinic the following day.
Mills and Dawson face some personal challenges. Mills is still upset that Dawson didn't tell him about his mother and Chief Bowden. Mills tells her he needs some time- she lets him know that he needs to figure it out one way or another and Dawson leaves.
Meanwhile, the house comes together to support the opening of Molly's. They decide to honor Halle at the opening and donating all profits to the Children's Hospital.

Episode 24- "A Hell of a Ride" Season Finale

The house gets a call to put out a fire in Cook County jail and walks into volatile situation. While at the jail the squad is inside when the power is cut; which means everything is on lock down. Casey team is inside a cell block unit when this happens with the most dangerous of groups. The inmates are the ones that started the fire with an electrical outlet. One guard is killed by the inmates and the teams is now being hunted by this group. They barricade themselves into a room and have the squad members outside the lock down unit to go and help change the direction of the air ducts to smoke the inmates out. This is eventually the way they get out once the power is brought back.
Also during this time Mills and Dawson are stuck together and forced to talk about their relationship. They agree to start fresh and be honest but Mills just has one question for Dawson. That question... "Do you have feelings for Casey?" She isn't able to give him the answer he is looking for... pretty much ending their relationship. Mills also finds out that he did not get the green light for move squad to work with Kelly. While outside Shay gets a call from her doctor and finds out that the treatment didn't work and she isn't pregnant.
Meanwhile Herman's wife goes into labor while they are locked down and Shay keeps getting updates to radio into Herman from the hospital. Once out of the jail the police rush Herman to the hospital because the baby was having trouble breathing. At the hospital after everything is okay, Herman and his wife ask Shay and Kelly to be the godparents.
At the end of the episode we see Mills go into the police station and ask for an application (my guess he will be moving to the spin-off show). Dawson goes over to Casey's place to see how he is going and finds that Casey has being living off his couch and everything is a mess in his house. He breaks down and tells her nothing feels right with Halle being there. Shay and Kelly are getting ready to walk into their apartment when Renee (Kelly's old girlfriend that wanted him to move away) is at the front steps. He asks what she is doing back and she tells him she wanted to tell him in person and then she reveals her belly- letting us all know that she is pregnant. Shay looks devastated because she probably is thinking that Kelly won't try again to have a baby with her.
One last thing, down the road from Molly's a new sports bar is under construction... how will think affect Molly's?

What will next season bring to Chicago Fire? So many cliff hangers... Way in on your thoughts for the season.
